San Miguel de Allende is the most beautiful city in Mexico. Located in central Mexico (far from the beach), the colonial-era city is known for its booming art scene, well-preserved Spanish architecture, and cultural festivals. The town is pedestrian friendly made up of narrow cobble-stoned streets with no traffic lights. At the town center is Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, a monumental neo-Gothic pink church built originally built in the 17th century. The current facade was constructed in 1880 and it is said the architect's design was inspired by postcards of Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. A town built around a giant pink church?! BEAUTIFUL! and helpful for navigation (pink church = North Star). There are art galleries and shops selling traditional Mexican crafts, clothing, footwear, blanets, rugs, and pottery around every corner. I had the BEST time exploring this magical city!
WARNING: You will want to move here!!

ROSEWOOD is a modern hotel in a colonial city. The fanciest hotel in San Miguel, Rosewood is walking distance to everything in San Miguel and has all the amenities you'd expect from a 5 star hotel.
HOTEL MATILDA is a sleek modern hotel full of contemporary art and a world class spa.
OR an AMAZING AIRBNB!
BAJA FISH TAQUITOS is a very casual hole-in-the-wall restaurant. They made the most delicious fish tacos I've ever tasted and I consider myself an expert on the subject. It feels like a locals only spot in the middle of a tourist destination. Unbelievably inexpensive. Get the ceviche!
BAR LUNA is the rooftop bar at the Rosewood Hotel. Just a few blocks outside of the town square, this roof has the best view of the city. Delicious cocktails and great food! Stunning!
APERI RESTAURANT is a contemporary Mexian restaurant in the Dos Casas Hotel. They have an open kitchen so you can watch the chef work his magic. They do a tasting menu + wine pairing that everybody raves about. Make a reservation.
LA AZOTEA is a rooftop tapas bar in the center of town. The BEST place to be for sunset!
HANK'S NEW ORLEANS CAFE & OYSTER BAR is right in the town square. The drinks are better than the food, but you can't beat the location!
BEZZITO is also in one of the best locations. Perfect spot to enjoy a refreshing beverage, but people seem to unanimously agree that the food is garbage.
FABRICA LA AURORA is an old cotton mill repurposed into a collective of art galleries, boutiques, cafes, textile and home shops. You will want to spend an entire day wandering, shopping, and eating your way through here!
TENNIS I sweat so I can EAT! Clay courts. Make reservations.
Heading home with a whole new wardrobe, gifts for my entire family, Mexican candy, and a few impulse buys that make me SO HAPPY!
